The
General Practice Assessment Questionnaire 2007
Thank you to all our patients who once again took time to complete a
questionnaire in April this year. The survey was based around your
general practice and visit to the surgery that day. We value your
opinion and we especially appreciate and learn from the additional
comments made.
When analysing our patient survey we compared our own scores against the
national benchmarks and comparisons with previous questionnaires which
allowed us to highlight areas of concern and achievement. We are
delighted to report that generally the feedback once again was very
positive. In all areas patients are satisfied with our performance and
we exceed the General Practice Assessment Questionnaire benchmarks.
Our appointments system allows our patients to book in advance or on the
day.
If an urgent appointment is required, you may be asked to provide brief
details of your problem so that you can be offered an appointment in the
most appropriate way. Some illnesses may be dealt with by telephone
advice or we may recommend you to go straight to an Accident and
Emergency department.
We try to run to time as far as possible. If an appointment runs over
time, please bear with us if you have to wait, but to help ensure the
surgery runs smoothly, please remember to arrive on time for your
appointment or let us know if you cannot keep your appointment. If you
need more than the allocated 10 minutes please inform the secretary so a
longer appointment is given if appropriate.
We would like to remind our patients that:
- Doctor appointments are available from
8.00am, with the last available appointment either 5.50pm or 6.00pm.
- Practice Nurse appointments are available
from 8.00am
- Your doctor is happy to discuss any
problems by telephone if appropriate. He or she is usually available
between 11.30am-12noon and 3.00pm-3.30pm
- If you wish to speak to one of our practice
nurses, please contact your doctor’s secretary
- Government funding for Saturday morning
opening is not yet available and is currently being discussed

Influenza Immunisation Season
All those aged over 65 years, and those who have chronic conditions such
as asthma, heart disease or diabetes are eligible for an influenza
vaccination. We are planning to hold bookable clinics for influenza
vaccinations this autumn at the Calcot Medical Centre.
Please phone your doctor's secretary to make an appointment. If you have
a cold, are taking antibiotics or are feeling unwell it is better to
have your flu vaccination on another day.
Pneumococcal immunisations will also be offered for patients aged over
65 years old who have never previously received a pneumococcal
vaccination. Patients only need to receive the pneumococcal vaccination
once during their lifetime. It prevents a serious form of pneumonia.
